I could write a HUGE entry about today, but I am worn out and ready for bed - so it will be the short version instead.
I had planned to go to the US embassy today in an attempt to get a detailed list or explanation of exactly what paperwork was necessary to apply for a student visa.
Because this is Haiti, nothing went as planned.
The car we were supposed to take would not work.
Instead of coming to pick me up by 9 am, John arrived about 11am (see last comment about the car).
While trying to find a phone number for the embassy, we had to go to the school office because the Internet was not working at all. While in the office, the head of the school just happened to be passing through. She heard our plan and instead of giving us the number, spent 20 minutes explaining everything we needed to at least give John a shot.
We left the office with our heads spinning (John learned what that meant today) and collected our thoughts by making a list for each of us. I love lists.
Some math was studied.
A walk was taken.
John was introduced to Angry Birds.
A successful day.
The pictures from today:
- John helping Bill negotiate a possible lot purchase for the church
- ravine right behind the church tent
Although disappointing, nothing happens without a reason. Look how circumstances played out by putting you in just the right place at the right time to save you a trip and provide you with what you really needed!!!Crazy overwhelming I am sure. John will learn even more idioms as it relates to his circumstances. "Driving me up the wall..." Hang in there. Must be meant that you are to go back...
Whats the feel of the political climate? My teams are asking lots of questions. Hubby will be down when Preval leaves office literally empty...
Praying you have a productive day Melissa and John.
